Our History
The UPPC Print School traces its roots to the early 20th century, when Uganda’s printing legacy began under the British colonial administration. Established in 1902 as the Government Printer, the institution was tasked with producing official documents, gazettes, and legal publications that formed the backbone of colonial governance.
Following Uganda’s independence in 1962, the Government Printer remained under the Office of the President, continuing its vital role in printing and publishing for all ministries and departments. Over the decades, it evolved into a cornerstone of national communication and documentation, preserving everything from presidential decrees to parliamentary bills and national budgets.
